Jean Craciun is considered by many to be the most innovative, applied market researcher in Alaska. Her sociological training and qualitative research skills enable her to help organizations solve tough marketing problems in Alaska, nationally and internationally.
For the past twenty-four years, Ms. Craciun has conducted comprehensive marketing research projects throughout the state of Alaska, the Lower 48 and the World. From 1991-94, she worked abroad for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Under a USAID grant to the Academy for Educational Development (AED), Ms. Craciun served as a key resource to a social conversion project designed to foster the development of economic reform and democratization in Russia.
Craciun Research became an independent business in June 1989, growing steadily each year since then. Ms. Craciun’s forte lies in helping businesses and organizations deal with changing environments and reforming industry sectors.
Consequently, it is no surprise that her company has been involved in projects related to marketing, health care, finance, telecommunications, Alaska Natives, social services issues, transportation and environmental evaluations, statewide tourism, education, oil & gas, and retail.
These clients’ increasingly complex economic and social situations require a focus back on the people side of business and Ms. Craciun is happy to lead them there. She has enjoyed studying some of the most important concerns in the state, from rural sanitation and health care issues to the potential of the visitor industry.
Her studies also include most notably the impact of technological advancements on all segments of business in Alaska, Nationally, and Internationally. In all her work, Jean Craciun strives to achieve a standard of excellence, not only in the depth of her investigation, but also in her integrity as a researcher.
She has developed business practices in soliciting and recording responses, which promote objectivity, rather than obscure it. Furthermore, she crusades continually to encourage the use of high quality focus group research as a more responsive method of information gathering.
Graduating Cum Laude from Cleveland State University with a Master’s Degree in Sociology, Ms. Craciun’s training focused on Research Methodology. Her undergraduate degree is in Political Science (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Cincinnati.
Craciun did work on a doctoral degree in Human Resources Education from Boston University through a collaborative program at Alaska Pacific University. She teaches graduate-level International Marketing and Marketing Strategy and Research courses at Alaska Pacific University.
